Duane has been a Register Social Worker since 1975. Over the years he earned 2 Bachelors’ degrees in Arts and Social Work and a Master of Science, Administration degree.
He has worked most of his career with Mental Health & Addiction Services in Regina, Swift Current, Saskatoon, Humboldt, and Weyburn. Before his management work in Weyburn, his skills were in Individual and Family Therapy, Dispute Resolution and Community Development.
He initially agreed to move to Weyburn in 1988 and work for at least 2 years; originally as the Director of Social Work, (later Director of Community Mental Health Services). Ironically, he retired in 2013, as the Regional (Executive) Director of Mental Health & Addiction Services for the Sun Country Regional Health Authority. Also of interest, he was administratively responsible for overseeing Paediatric Speech Language Pathology Services for the region since approximately 1998.
During his work life, and increasing in retirement, Duane is active in Community Development work: he is a Director of the local United Way, and the Weyburn Group Home Society; he is the Co-Chair of Sun Country Health Region Patient/Family Advisory Council and is an active member of the provincial Health Quality Council’s Patient Family Centered Care Guiding Coalition. He is also a 26 -year member of the Rotary Club of Weyburn; in the past serving 2 separate terms as Club President and a 3year term as the Assistant Governor.
Duane and his wife/partner Lorrie, (a soon-retiring Registered Psychiatric Nurse) head a blended family of 2 adult sons and 2 adult daughters. They have travelled many parts of the world and anticipate doing more.
Amber Smale – Regina
Amber is a highly recommended leader with over 29 years experience in the public sector, having served in Executive level positions at the local government level.
Amber was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and dragon boating. She attended the University of Regina and holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, a certificate in Public Administration, certification in Prosci Change Management Practices (ADKAR) and is a Certified Coach Practitioner. Amber is one of the founding members of the standards for Change Management through the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) which is the basis for an education and professional designation program in change management and leadership. Amber works for a provincial Crown Corporation and owns her own business Leadership by Design Consulting Inc.
Amber is a community leader who volunteers, leads and serves as Chair of the City of Regina Development Appeals Board, and Public Director on Saskatchewan Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (SASLPA) Council. She also serves on the Human Resources Committee for the SASLPA Council. In the past, Amber has served as Chair of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2019 Canadian Dragon Boat Championships, President of a non-profit organization The Regina Dragon Boat Festival Inc., President of the Saskatchewan City Clerk’s Association and as a Public Director on a provincially regulated Board, the Chiropractors Association of Saskatchewan (CAS) where she also served on the Bylaws & Resolution and Discipline Committees of the CAS.
Amber brings a considerable background in Corporate Governance, Human Resource Management and Information Governance.
